I just cashed a check for $546.35 today by selling my digital photographs. How did I do it? How can you sell your digital photos and create a money making photography opportunity? Well its easy making money selling photos here’s how you do it.
When I first started in amateur photography I wanted to somehow earn a few bucks off of this wonderful hobby. I started off doing simple “work for hire†portrait sessions, but soon found that it wasn’t exactly as exciting as taking a nature hike with my digital camera and it wasn’t as satisfying either. Its one thing to take up a hobby to try and make a few bucks with and it’s another to now be stuck doing boring work that you just don’t enjoy. Soon my hobby was turning into feeling like work then a money making photography opportunity. I needed to find a better way to sell the photos I enjoyed taking.
I looked into different stock photography sites and actually started up with a few, but quickly discovered that you would large quantities of photos to make any real decent money. That’s not to say making money selling photos to stock photography sites isn’t possible, I’m just saying not all micro stock sites are created equal.
I just signed up with another type of stock photo site that allows me to charge what I think is fair for my shots. This means that instead of making $0.50 per photo, I could make up to $1000.00 per photo or more depending on the shot. This is exactly what I was hoping for and now I can not only enjoy my hobby but I can also make some decent money at it too. Sure I wasn’t selling a ton of photos, but I didn’t have to either.
Yes it took me awhile to learn and sure there’s a little more to it then sharing my brief story but once I did learn how to transform my hobby, I started to make money selling photos online.
